Job summary

Cover People are recruiting a Pastoral Support Assistant for a specialist secondary school in Bury, supporting pupils with SEMH needs.

You will help students re-engage with education, build confidence and develop essential life skills in a setting with small groups and a vocational focus.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting young people with SEMH, challenging behaviour or additional needs.
• Experience in education, youth work, mentoring, care or a similar setting.
• Calm, resilient and consistent when dealing with challenging situations.
• Confident building strong relationships with secondary-aged pupils.

Responsibilities

• Build positive, trusting relationships with young people with SEMH needs.
• Provide pastoral and emotional support throughout the school day.
• Support small groups and individual pupils with engagement and behaviour.
• Deliver or support targeted interventions and enrichment activities.
• Use positive behaviour strategies to encourage progress and participation.
