Job summary

Remedy Education is seeking an SEMH Outreach Tutor to work in Bromley, delivering tailored 1:1 education for students with SEMH needs in a non-mainstream setting. The role focuses on Maths, English, or Functional Skills, with plans adapted to individual emotional and learning requirements.

Applicants should have SEN experience; a PGCE/QTS is desirable but not essential. The position supports families and collaborates with other professionals, aiming to foster engagement and progress.

Qualifications

• Strong communication skills to build rapport with students, parents, and school staff.

• A passion for education and helping children achieve their full potential.
• Teaching qualification or SEN training desirable but not essential.

SEMH Outreach Tutor based in Bromley, Part time hours (10/15 hours per week) Remedy are looking for dedicated SEMH Outreach Tutors to work with students across Bromley, providing tailored 1:1 education and support outside of a mainstream setting.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide one-to-one tutoring in Maths, English, or Functional Skills to students with SEMH needs.
• Adapt lesson plans to meet individual learning and emotional needs.
• Build positive relationships with students, fostering trust and engagement.
• Monitor and track student progress, adjusting teaching methods as needed.
• Collaborate with families and other professionals to ensure holistic support for the student.

Key Skills and Experience:

• Proven experience working with students with Special Educational Needs (SEN), ideally in an outreach or tutoring capacity.
• Knowledge of different SEN categories (e.g., autism, dyslexia, ADHD, speech and language needs).
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, parents, and school staff.
• Patience, empathy, and the ability to adapt to a wide range of learning needs.
• A proactive and solution-focused approach to problem-solving.
• A passion for education and helping children achieve their full potential.
