Job summary

Remedy Education is seeking a dedicated SEMH Outreach Tutor in Bromley for part-time hours (10/15 per week). You will provide 1:1 tutoring in Maths, English, or Functional Skills, tailored to students with SEMH needs, outside mainstream settings.

Key requirements include SEN experience, knowledge of SEN categories, strong communication, and a patient, proactive approach. A teaching qualification (PGCE/QTS) is desirable but not essential.

Qualifications

• Experience with SEN and outreach tutoring.
• Knowledge of SEN categories (autism, dyslexia, ADHD, language needs).
• Excellent communication with students, parents and staff.
• Patience, empathy and ability to adapt to diverse needs.
• Proactive and solution-focused approach to problems.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide one-to-one tutoring in Maths, English, or Functional Skills to students with SEMH needs.
• Adapt lesson plans to meet individual learning and emotional needs.
• Build positive relationships with students, fostering trust and engagement.
• Monitor and track student progress, adjusting teaching methods as needed.
• Collaborate with families and other professionals to ensure holistic support for the student.

Key Skills and Experience:

• Proven experience working with students with Special Educational Needs (SEN), ideally in an outreach or tutoring capacity.
• Knowledge of different SEN categories (e.g., autism, dyslexia, ADHD, speech and language needs).
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, parents, and school staff.
• Patience, empathy, and the ability to adapt to a wide range of learning needs.
• A proactive and solution-focused approach to problem-solving.
• A passion for education and helping children achieve their full potential.
• A teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, QTS) or relevant SEN training (e.g., SENDCO, SEN TA experience) is desirable but not essential.
