Job summary

Polaris Education - ISP School Whitstable is seeking a dedicated One-to-One Teaching Assistant (PEG) to support a pupil with complex needs in a small SEMH setting. This role is part-time, term-time, fixed-term, offering 30 hours per week in Whitstable, Kent, with 09:00–15:30 Mon-Thu and 09:00–13:00 Fri.

Start date ASAP and DBS check required. You will mentor a pupil or small group, assist with lessons, manage behaviour, and contribute to an inclusive learning environment aligned to early years

Qualifications

• Level 3 Teaching Assistant Diploma or equivalent qualification.
• Experience with children, preferably in education.
• Strong understanding of early years frameworks and curriculum development.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Patience, empathy and passion for working with children with complex needs.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Mentor and support one pupil or a small group.
• Support engaging lessons aligned with early years frameworks.
• Build positive relationships and encourage participation.
• Report on progress and liaise with staff.
• Supervise during non-class time, activities and trips.
• Assist with lesson planning and classroom prep.
• Set work and manage behaviour strategies as needed.
• Participate in school events and staff meetings.
