Job summary

TeacherActive is recruiting a Level 2 Teaching Assistant for a SEMH primary school in Selly Oak, starting September. This full-time, long-term role offers progression to a permanent position for the right candidate, supporting pupils with SEMH needs, ASC and communication difficulties.

The successful applicant will hold a Level 2 TA qualification (or equivalent) and demonstrate experience with SEMH, challenging behaviours and trauma-informed practice, in a calm, resilient manner within bespoke

Qualifications

• Level 2 TA qualification or relevant equivalent.
• Experience supporting primary-aged pupils with SEMH and behaviours that challenge.
• Experience supporting pupils with ASC and communication and interaction difficulties.
• Strong understanding of trauma-informed practice, ACEs and attachment theory.
• Good curriculum knowledge and understanding of how sensory, social and emotional needs impact engagement and behaviour.
• Calm, resilient and confident approach to supporting pupils.

Responsibilities

• Support primary-aged pupils with SEMH needs, including ASC and communication and interaction difficulties, within bespoke behaviour, support and risk management plans.
• Follow trauma-informed approaches to education and wellbeing for pupils.
