Job summary

Milk Education is seeking an SEMH Learning Support Assistant in Darlington to provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEMH needs. This full-time, long-term role offers a daily rate of £107.71+ and requires patience, compassion and consistency when helping young people engage with learning and manage emotions.

The role involves building trusting relationships, supporting emotional regulation, and working with teachers to create a calm, nurturing classroom environment across Darlington

Qualifications

  • Experience in schools or care settings preferred.
  • Patient and compassionate approach to working with young people.
  • Ability to build trusting relationships and support emotional wellbeing.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEMH needs.
  • Help pupils manage emotions and develop positive coping strategies.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with children and young people.
  • Support pupils to engage with learning and classroom activities.
  • Encourage positive behaviour and emotional regulation.
  • Work alongside teachers and wider support staff.
  • Create a calm, safe and nurturing learning environment.
  • Help pupils develop confidence, independence and social skills.

Milk Education is looking for resilient, patient and enthusiastic SEMH Learning Support Assistants to join schools across Darlington and the surrounding areas.

THE ROLE

As an SEMH Learning Support Assistant, you will:

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEMH needs
  • Help pupils manage emotions and develop positive coping strategies
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with children and young people
  • Support pupils to engage with learning and classroom activities
  • Encourage positive behaviour and emotional regulation
  • Work alongside teachers and wider support staff
  • Create a calm, safe and nurturing learning environment
  • Help pupils develop confidence, independence and social skills
