Job summary

Kent Teaching Solutions Ltd. is seeking a dedicated SEMH Learning Support Assistant to help secondary students aged 11–16 with SEMH needs. You will work one-to-one or in small groups, developing tailored strategies with teachers and the SENCO while promoting resilience and engagement.

You will collaborate with staff, families, and external partners to secure positive outcomes, maintain safeguarding, and contribute to a supportive school community.

Qualifications

• Experience working with young people with SEMH needs or in a similar support role.
• A calm, empathetic, and consistent approach to behaviour support.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
• A commitment to safeguarding and promoting student welfare.
• Relevant qualifications (e.g. Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, Team Teach, or equivalent) are desirable but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Work one-to-one and in small groups with students aged 11–16 with SEMH needs.
• Support pupils in overcoming barriers to learning, both inside and outside the classroom.
• Develop and implement personalised support strategies with teachers and the SENCO.
• Build trusting relationships to promote self-esteem, resilience, and engagement.
• Assist in behaviour management and the delivery of tailored interventions.
• Collaborate with staff, parents/carers, and external agencies to ensure the best outcomes.
