Job description

Start Date: September 2025

I am working with a successful and hardworking academy located in Swindon. Motivated by providing students with world-class teaching and a supportive environment, they are looking for an enthusiastic Social Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) Learning Support Assistant to join the academy. This school offers a nurturing environment for both teachers and students with a strong drive for excellence.

The role is full-time and permanent, commencing in September 2025. As an SEMH Learning Support Assistant, you will assist with planned learning and activities provided by the teacher, supporting students with SEMH needs through a supportive and encouraging environment.

Responsibilities
  • Providing assistance in the learning support of SEMH students
  • Supporting children with a variety of special needs
  • Providing one-on-one support and guidance inside and outside the classroom
  • Supporting students in behavior management and emotional regulation to foster positive relationships
  • Being a reliable figure for students to aid their development and emotional challenges
  • Collaborating closely with teachers and support staff to create a supportive environment
  • Assisting in the preparation of learning materials
Requirements
  • Relevant SEMH qualifications and experience working with SEN children are beneficial
  • Enthusiasm for supporting students with educational and emotional needs
  • Effective interpersonal and observational skills for communication with students, teachers, and parents
  • Patience, resilience, and adaptability to meet individual needs
  • Understanding of safeguarding procedures
