Job summary

Aspire People are recruiting confident Behaviour Mentors to support pupils across primary schools in Manchester and surrounding areas. You will help pupils develop emotional regulation, engage with learning, and follow school behaviour plans.

Ideal candidates have recent UK school-based SEND/SEMH experience, a calm, patient approach, and strong communication skills. Aspire People offers dedicated consultant support and ongoing placement opportunities.

Qualifications

• Recent UK-based school experience supporting pupils with behavioural, SEMH or SEND needs within the last two years.
• Calm, confident and consistent approach.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil welfare.

Responsibilities

• Providing 1:1 and small-group support for pupils experiencing behavioural or emotional difficulties.
• Building positive relationships while maintaining clear and consistent boundaries.
• Helping pupils recognise triggers and develop strategies to manage their emotions.
• Supporting agreed behaviour plans and positive reinforcement approaches.
• Encouraging pupils to engage with classroom learning and school routines.
• Supporting transitions, breaktimes and situations where pupils may need additional guidance.
• Helping children develop communication, conflict-resolution and social skills.
• Using appropriate de-escalation strategies in line with school policies and training.
• Recording relevant observations and sharing feedback with teaching and pastoral staff.
• Following safeguarding procedures and promoting a safe, inclusive environment.
