Job summary

Engage Education is seeking a Positive Behaviour Assistant for an all-through school in Brighton. You will support pupils with SEMH needs across primary and secondary settings, working flexibly to suit the school's requirements and building trusting relationships with learners and staff.

The role emphasizes calm behaviour management, de-escalation techniques, and collaboration with teachers. This is a full-time, long-term position with potential to become permanent for the right candidate.

Qualifications

• Experience with SEMH and challenging behaviour is desirable.
• Calm, consistent and proactive approach to behaviour management.
• GCSE English and Maths at Grade C/4 or above (or equivalent).

Responsibilities

• Support pupils across primary and secondary with SEMH and behavioural needs.
• Work flexibly across age groups according to school needs.
• Build positive relationships and act as a consistent role model.
• Use strategies to support distressed or dysregulated pupils, including de-escalation.
• Support positive behaviour and keep pupils engaged in learning.
• Collaborate with teachers and support staff to minimise disruption.
• Encourage confidence, resilience and independence in pupils.
• Provide feedback to teachers and the wider school team on pupil progress.
• Stay calm and proactive in challenging situations.
• Work full-time, 8:15am – 3:30pm.
