Job summary

Engage Education is recruiting a Positive Behaviour Assistant for an all-through school in Burgess Hill to support pupils with SEMH needs across primary and secondary settings. The role requires a flexible approach to cover different age groups and build strong, trusting relationships with learners.

Training will be provided and the post is full-time with the potential to become permanent for the right candidate.

Qualifications

• Experience or interest in supporting SEMH needs.
• Ability to build positive relationships with pupils.
• Calm, proactive approach to behaviour management.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils with SEMH and behavioural needs across primary and secondary settings.
• Work flexibly across age groups according to school needs.
• Build positive, trusting relationships and act as a role model.
• Use de-escalation strategies to support distressed pupils.
• Promote positive behaviour and keep pupils engaged in learning.
• Collaborate with teachers and support staff to minimise disruption.
• Encourage confidence, resilience and independence in pupils.
• Provide feedback to teachers and school team on pupil progress.
