Job summary

Axcis Education is seeking a dedicated Classroom Assistant to support students at a secondary school in Weymouth, Dorset. The role involves 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEMH, ASC and additional learning needs.

You will work with teachers and the pastoral team to create a positive learning environment, promote emotional regulation, and help students access lessons. Prior experience with young people is desirable, but commitment and empathy are key.

Qualifications

• Experience working with young people or vulnerable individuals.
• Patience and empathy to support SEMH needs.
• Interest in SEND/education and ability to build relationships.
• Ability to manage challenging behaviours with support.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support to students.
• Collaborate with teachers and pastoral team to create learning environments.
• Support SEMH and ASC needs and promote engagement.
• Assist with behaviour management in line with school policies.
• Implement personalised learning and support plans where appropriate.
