Job summary

Intertek seeks a Microscopy Analyst to join our materials characterisation team. You will operate state-of-the-art SEM/EDS facilities to prepare and analyse debris samples from aviation, marine, industrial and military sectors.

The role involves testing, data interpretation, report compilation, and on-call support. Knowledge of SEM/EDS or optical microscopy and image analysis is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in an industrial laboratory environment, ideally fuels/lubricants.
• Qualifications or experience in material science/engineering/metallurgy/analytical techniques.
• Full driving license is required.

Responsibilities

• Undertake and co-ordinate testing using established test methods.
• Interpret test data and provide conclusions based on results.
• Compile customer reports and advise on results.
• Provide on-call support on a rota basis.
• Develop/commission new test methods and equipment as required.
• Ensure compliance with quality and accreditation procedures.

Job description

We are seeking a Microscopy Analyst to join our materials characterisation team. Operating our state of-the-art Scanning Electron Microscopes, you will prepare & analyse a varied and diverse array of debris samples supporting our clients in the aviation, marine, industrial & military sectors. Key activities:

Key responsibilities

• Undertaking and co-ordinating testing using established test methods
• Interpretation of test data and provision of meaningful conclusions based on test results
• Compiling customer reports and providing advice to customers on results
• Provide on call support on a rota basis
• Developing/commissioning of new test methods and equipment as required
• Ensuring compliance with relevant quality and accreditation procedures
• Close liaison with the Intertek Caleb Brett UK business development team

We are looking for a technically minded and detail-oriented individual with experience in laboratory analysis and materials characterisation. Knowledge and experience using Scanning Electron Microscopy/Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy (SEM/EDS), optical light microscopy and/or image analysis techniques., Experience with Scanning Electron Microscopy/Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy (SEM/EDS) or optical light microscopy and/or image analysis

Requirements

• Experience of working in an industrial laboratory environment ideally within the fuels and lubricants sector
• Relevant qualifications or experience of material science/engineering/metallurgy/analytical techniques
• Full driving license
