Intertek is seeking a Graduate Analyst to join our growing laboratories in Melbourn, Cambridgeshire. You will work alongside experienced scientists, receive hands-on training, and develop a broad range of analytical techniques while supporting pharmaceutical and chemical projects.

The role requires a degree in a relevant scientific discipline and a placement year or practical lab experience. You will operate in a collaborative, regulated environment with opportunities for career progression.

Qualifications

  • Degree in a relevant scientific discipline (Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biochemistry, Biology) with a placement year or equivalent lab experience.
  • Placement year, internship or practical lab experience gained during degree.
  • Good numerical and data interpretation skills and strong laboratory skills.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and analyse samples using a range of analytical techniques.
  • Follow validated laboratory methods and SOPs.
  • Record, review and report analytical data accurately.

Graduate Analyst

Intertek is looking for enthusiastic and ambitious Graduate Analysts to join our growing laboratories in Melbourn, Cambridgeshire. This is a fantastic opportunity for graduates who have completed a placement year, industrial internship or have gained equivalent laboratory experience during their studies.

Working alongside experienced scientists, you'll receive hands‑on training, develop a broad range of analytical techniques and build a rewarding career supporting the pharmaceutical and chemical industries.

ABOUT YOU

We're looking for someone who enjoys practical laboratory work, has a keen eye for detail and is excited to continue learning in a supportive and collaborative environment.

Required skills and experience:

  • A degree (BSc or MSc) in Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biochemistry, Biology or another relevant scientific discipline
  • A placement year, industrial internship or equivalent practical laboratory experience gained during your degree
  • Strong laboratory skills and an interest in analytical techniques
  • Good numerical and data interpretation skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • A methodical approach with excellent attention to detail
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage your workload effectively
  • A positive attitude with a willingness to learn and develop new technical skills
  • IT literacy and confidence using Microsoft Office applications

Experience of working within a regulated laboratory environment, or knowledge of GMP and laboratory safety procedures, would be advantageous but is not essential.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

As a Graduate Analyst, you'll become an integral member of our laboratory team, supporting the preparation and analysis of samples using a variety of analytical techniques.

From day one, you'll receive structured training and mentoring from experienced colleagues while developing the technical knowledge and practical skills needed to build a successful scientific career.

This role offers exposure to a wide range of laboratory techniques, client projects and opportunities for career progression within one of the world's leading testing, inspection and certification companies.

Key activities
  • Preparing and analysing samples using a range of analytical techniques
  • Following validated laboratory methods and standard operating procedures
  • Recording, reviewing and reporting analytical data accurately
  • Supporting investigations and basic interpretation of scientific results under supervision
  • Maintaining laboratory equipment and ensuring a safe, organised working environment
  • Working in accordance with quality standards, health and safety procedures and company policies
  • Collaborating with colleagues to deliver high-quality results for clients
  • Continuously developing your technical knowledge through training and practical experience
