Job summary

Independent Lives in Hastings is seeking a compassionate, reliable, self-employed Personal Assistant to support a female client in her day-to-day life, helping her maintain independence, dignity and wellbeing at home.

This temporary cover role includes accompanying to appointments, running errands, in-person supermarket shopping, batch cooking, meal preparation, and help with cleaning, laundry, and home tasks.

Qualifications

• Experience in support work or care is preferred but not essential.
• Kind, respectful and patient approach is important.
• Good organisational skills are valued.
• Ability to work independently and follow her preferences.

Responsibilities

• Accompany to appointments.
• Running errands (including parcel drop-offs if own car).
• Help with home maintenance: cleaning, laundry, ironing/steaming.

Job description

We are seeking a compassionate and reliable self-employed Personal Assistant to assist a female in her day-to-day life, helping her maintain independence, dignity, and wellbeing.

This is a temporary cover position to support her while her usual Personal Assistant is on leave for medical treatment.

Duties include:

Community Engagement & Appointments

• Accompany to appointments.
• Running errands such as parcel drop-offs (if applicant has own car).

Social & Family Connections

• Enable her to maintain meaningful relationships and visit friends in the community.

Home Environment

Assist with maintaining a clean and habitable home, including

• Bin management (external bins and internal bins)
• Cleaning tasks: windows, bathroom, kitchen, fridge/freezer, oven, floors, laundry, ironing/steaming

Nutrition & Meal Preparation

• Doing in-person supermarket shopping
• Unpacking and storing groceries
• Batch cooking and kitchen clean-up

Personal Care & Hygiene

• Help assist with conserving energy for daily showers by supporting with other daily living tasks
• Assist with clothing needs

Medication & Health

• Pick up prescriptions and over-the-counter medications and organise into pill organisers
• Support with budgeting, paperwork, and form-filling

Safety & Mobility

• Ensure she can move around her home safely and comfortably

Experience in support work or care (preferred but not essential)

• Own car and clean driving license (preferred but not essential)
• A kind, respectful, and patient approach
• Good organisational skills
• Ability to work independently and follow her preferences
