Job summary

The New Art Gallery Walsall is seeking a Security Assistant to safeguard visitors, staff and exhibits while delivering a welcoming experience. The role covers opening/closing, CCTV vigilance, patrolling, and support for events in a busy cultural venue.

Applicants should have experience in security or public-facing roles, strong communication, and a calm, professional approach. Current SIA licenses for door supervision and CCTV are required; weekend/evening work is standard.

Qualifications

• Experience in security, customer service, visitor attractions, hospitality, emergency response or other public-facing roles.
• Solid understanding of security and safeguarding in a public building.
• Current SIA licenses in door supervision and CCTV surveillance are necessary.

Responsibilities

• Promote safe and secure running of the venue during opening hours by monitoring CCTV, patrolling the building, screening contractors, and supporting health and safety.
• Open/close the site as a key holder, operate alarm systems, and be on-call for out-of-hours when required.
• Support visitor needs, protect collections and exhibitions, and deliver a welcoming visitor experience.
• Handle security incidents and emergencies professionally as they arise.
• Assist with practical venue tasks, including monitoring deliveries, event setup support, and light housekeeping.
