Job summary

Glam Oxford is seeking a part-time Security Officer to join the Security Team at the Bodleian Libraries in Oxford. You will be the first point of contact for readers and staff, respond to incidents and help keep buildings, people and collections safe.

The role is 32 hours per week on a rota including evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays; a Basic DBS check is required due to safety-critical work, and excellent written and spoken English are essential.

Qualifications

• Part-time availability including evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays.
• Ability to interact confidently with people at all levels using tact and diplomacy.
• Good written and spoken English.
• Willingness to undergo Basic DBS check.

Responsibilities

• Provide welcoming and professional first point of contact for customers and readers.
• Respond to emergencies and help keep buildings and collections safe.
• Patrol public and reader areas and check access to restricted areas.
• Conduct routine searches of bags and lockers and ensure alarm systems are secure.
