Job summary

University of Oxford is seeking a part-time Security Team member to act as the first point of contact for customers and readers, helping keep people, buildings and collections safe. You will respond to emergencies, patrol areas, monitor access, and support in sensitive zones while maintaining precise records.

The role is permanent, 32 hours per week on a rota including evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays. A Basic DBS disclosure is required due to safety-critical work.

Qualifications

• Willing to work evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays.
• Able to interact confidently with people at all levels.
• Professional, customer-focused approach.
• Good standard of written and spoken English.

Responsibilities

• Respond to emergencies and keep clear and accurate records.
• Patrol public and reader areas.
• Check access to restricted areas.
• Conduct routine bag and locker searches.
• Ensure buildings and alarm systems are secure and functioning.
• Respond to enquiries by telephone and face to face.
