Job summary

HSB Technical Ltd is recruiting for a Security Small Works & Service Engineer to install, commission and service fire and security systems across commercial and residential sites. The role covers small works projects, upgrades and fault rectification with a focus on industry standards and customer requirements.

The position offers a salary of £35,000 - £40,000 DOE, with a company vehicle, fuel card, phone and laptop, plus pension, overtime and ongoing training.

Qualifications

• Proven experience within fire and security small works, installation, commissioning and servicing.
• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
• Good knowledge of current fire and security industry regulations and standards.
• Experience with systems such as Advanced, Kentec, C‑Tec, CEM, PAC, Avigilon, Hikvision, Dahua, Paxton, Texecom, Galaxy and Pyronix advantageous.
• Full UK Driving Licence.
• Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
• Excellent communication and customer-facing skills.
• Right to work within the UK.

Responsibilities

• Install, modify, upgrade, and commission CCTV, intruder alarm, access control, and fire alarm systems.
• Carry out small works projects, system additions, and upgrades across customer sites.
• Diagnose and rectify faults on a range of fire and security systems.
• Test and commission systems to ensure full operational functionality.
• Complete all relevant documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
• Ensure compliance with BS5839, BS7671, NSI/SSAIB standards, and company procedures.
• Liaise professionally with customers, contractors, and internal teams.
• Maintain company vehicle, tools, and equipment to a high standard.
• Participate in an on‑call rota as required.
