Job summary

Secom Plc is seeking an installation technician to carry out installation, modification and commissioning of electronic security systems for commercial clients. You will work on intruder alarms, CCTV, access control, and read drawings to deliver safe, compliant upgrades.

Based in the Birmingham area, travel to customer sites is required and you will use mobile reporting tools to update records and keep customers informed throughout projects.

Qualifications

• Experience installing and servicing electronic security systems.
• Knowledge of CCTV, intruder alarms, access control, and IP networking.
• Knowledge in Fire.
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
• Competent in using mobile devices and digital reporting systems.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Carry out the installation, modification, and commissioning of small works on electronic security systems, ensuring all work is completed safely, to a high standard, and in line with customer requirements.
• Install and upgrade intruder alarms, CCTV, access control, and related security systems.
• Complete small additions, alterations, and remedial works on existing customer sites.
• Diagnose faults and perform minor repairs where required.
• Read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Complete all work in accordance with company procedures, NSI standards, and health & safety regulations.
• Update job reports, commissioning documents, and customer records using mobile applications.
• Liaise with customers and internal teams to ensure projects are completed on time.
• Maintain company vehicle, tools, equipment, and van stock.
• Deliver excellent customer service and promote additional upgrade opportunities where appropriate.
• This role involves travelling to customer sites, completing installations and upgrades efficiently, and ensuring all security systems meet SECOM quality and compliance standards.

NSI / ECS / CSCS / manufacturer training
