Mitie Group plc. is recruiting for a Security Officer (Female and Male) at the Port of Southampton. The role operates on 12-hour shifts and requires a valid SIA license and a full driving license (manual or automatic). The port is staffed year-round and training is provided.

You will protect port facilities and restricted areas in line with ISPS and site instructions, respond to incidents, and maintain high standards of customer service while working both independently and as part of a team.

• Gate house duties: operate gates and barriers for access control.
• Search persons, vehicles and plant equipment as required.
• Issue/check passes and patrol restricted areas as directed.
• Complete paperwork as required.
• Respond to incidents per supervision/management instructions.
• Ensure the port remains secure at all times.
• Full training provided; opportunities for additional site-specific training.

Security Officer: Female and Male

Core Officers and Support Officers

Rate of pay £13.66 an hour.

Shift pattern 12-hour shifts

• Do you want to work at the Port of Southampton? We are Looking for Female and Male officers to join our team here at Mitie DP World, to ensure our client's property, people or Assets are protected at all times as per the ISPS code and in direct accordance with the sites Published Assignment instructions. The port is operational every day of the year.

Essential Information

To apply you must have:

• Valid SIA License
• Must hold a full Driving License Manual or Automatic
• Must be able to work shifts current shift pattern is 4 Days and then 4 off then 4 Nights for core officers

Job Overview

• To protect the port facilities restricted areas in compliance with the ISPS code.
• To protect our customer's property, people and/or assets by providing security services in direct accordance with the sites published Assignment Instructions (AI's)
• To be alert and responsive at all times to ensure the port and its facilities are protected at all times
• Keen eye for detail and spotting things out of the ordinary

Main Duties

• Gate house duties including operating gates and barriers to allow access/egress.
• Searching of persons, vehicles and plant machinery as required
• Pass issuing/checking.
• Patrolling the restricted areas as required by the supervisory team.
• Completing paperwork as required
• Responding to incidents as directed by the supervisory and management team.
• Ensuring the port is kept secure at all times
• Full training in the role will be provided
• Other duties as required

Training

• Full training to undertake your role will be provided.
• Additional training is available for other site-specific roles, including Site first Aider, 3ic and 2ic
• We also offer the opportunity to enhance your skill set by completing an Apprenticeship in security.

• Look out for, and to immediately report, any Health & Safety hazards, or potential hazards, on site.
• To maintain professional conduct in the face of difficult situations and challenging customers.
