Job summary

The company NI in Belfast, NI is seeking a Software Engineer II, Security to join a hybrid team. You will bridge Security Engineering and Compliance to streamline vulnerability management, influence architecture decisions, and deliver secure, scalable business applications.

You will contribute to design discussions, implement secure coding practices, and work across Product and Engineering to ensure a secure environment. This role emphasizes mentoring and collaboration in a fast-paced setting.

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
• 2+ years of security engineering experience.
• Experience with programming languages such as Python, Java, Go, and SQL.
• Proficiency with AWS security tools such as Security Hub and IAM.
• Strong knowledge of risk assessment, threat modelling, OWASP Top 10 and encryption concepts.
• Know-how of secure development practices and CI/CD.

Responsibilities

• Identify and trial security tooling for the SDLC, especially in the AI space.
• Code solutions to engineering challenges in Python and SQL.
• Advocate secure-by-design practices with other engineers.
• Maintain security data products (SBOM, asset inventory, cloud infra, SIEM).
• Monitor, log, triage and escalate cyber threats; document IoCs.
• Conduct security assessments and report findings.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to remediate issues.
• Provide support and training where needed.
