Job summary

NexHire Ltd seeks a hands-on New Product Development Engineer in Manchester to design, prototype and deploy security products for outdoor environments. You’ll own projects from concept to deployment, using solar/battery power, cellular connectivity and embedded software.

You’ll collaborate with the Product Innovation Director, developing across electronics, mechanics and software, and validating designs through testing and production handover.

Qualifications

• Hands‑on New Product Development experience or strong portfolio.
• Two years (or more) of practical product development, design or test engineering.
• Degree in engineering or equivalent practical experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop products across electronics, mechanical assemblies and embedded software.
• Create 3D CAD models and engineering drawings; build prototypes with in‑house 3D printing.
• Evaluate components, battery and solar power systems, and cellular connectivity.
• Write and adapt code for development and testing, preferably Python.
• Plan functional, environmental and reliability testing, including live-site trials.
• Collaborate with suppliers and manufacturers to move designs into production.
• Support AI, CCTV and video analytics integration and product certification.
