Job summary

Serco Limited is seeking a Security Officer for RAF Brize Norton to help protect the base by delivering essential access, security, and traffic services, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for staff, visitors, and contractors.

You will greet visitors, control access, assist with searches and emergency responses, keep logs and incident reports, and manage vehicle escort duties and base traffic. This role requires security clearances and a valid UK driving licence.

Qualifications

• Color perception for Airfield Driving Permit is required or achievable.

Location: RAF Brize Norton, Carterton Oxfordshire, OX18 3LX

Salary: £28,753.54 plus excellent benefits

Schedule: 2 days (12 hours/07:00-19:00) / 2 nights (12 hours/19:00-07:00) / 4 days stand down (includes 1 rostered duty cover shift)

What you'll do as a Security Officer

You will be entrusted to:

• Provide a professional and friendly welcome to all visitors and colleagues.
• Control vehicle and pedestrian access, checking identification and passes with accuracy.
• Assist with security searches and emergency response when required
• Maintain accurate logs, records, and incident reports.
• Deliver vehicle escort duties and traffic management services across the base.
• Airfield pass check.

You will be a great fit for this role if you have:

• Security Industry Authority (SIA) licence training and UK Security Vetting (UKSV) clearance or having no issues obtaining it.
• A full UK manual driving licence (maximum six points).

• Reliability, punctuality, and the ability to work 12 hour day and night shifts.

You must obtain UKSV Security Clearance (SC), which includes more detailed background checks on employment, criminal record, and financial history to ensure suitability for working in secure environments. Please note that UK residency requirements may apply for certain levels of clearance. You will also complete an Occupational Health Questionnaire so we can identify and provide any support you may need to undertake the role effectively.

Vetting and checks:

This role requires Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) clearance, which involves verifying your identity, employment history, nationality, and criminal record to meet government security standards.
