Job summary

Vigilant Security in Stranraer is seeking a dedicated security professional to join our local site team on a 4 on 4 off days and nights schedule. The role covers gatehouse duties, visitor reception, deliveries, and daily security operations to maintain high standards.

We provide full training for the SIA licence and a supportive environment where professionalism and customer service are valued. The position is full-time, with progression opportunities within our expanding security division.

Qualifications

• SIA licence required or willing to obtain one.

Vigilant are offering an exciting opportunity for a security professional to join our expanding team, working at one of our local sites in Stranraer.

Scope

This is a full time position which includes security and gatehouse duties.

The pay rate is £13.45p/h. This will increase in April 2026 in line with the Real Living Wage.

The role will be on a 4 on 4 off basis, days and nights.

The post holder will be responsible for maintaining the day-to-day security requirements at a strategically important site, maintaining high standards of professionalism.

• Please note that SIA training will be provided if you do not have a current licence*

Main Duties & Responsibilities

• Provide a prompt, polite and warm welcome to all visitors.
• Reporting and booking deliveries in and out.
• Anticipate clients' needs/problems before they arise and that their expectations are met and exceeded each day.
• Be seen as a visible customer focused professional greeting and engaging with visitors.
• Provide a consistent professional service at all times.
• Communicate visitor/client arrivals to the relevant person promptly.
• Maintain a high security awareness at all times.
• Undertake patrols and inspections in accordance with management instructions.
• Proficient use of relevant communications equipment will require candidate to have good communication skills.
• Ensuring all H&S policies are adhered to.
• Ensuring that no un-authorised persons are permitted in prohibited areas.
• Issue visitor passes using agreed processes and procedures.
• Maintaining an accurate record of any incidents that occur.
