Job summary

M&S is seeking a Security Officer to create a safe, welcoming environment for customers and colleagues in-store. You will stay calm under pressure, lead with professionalism and take pride in protecting our stores, people and products.

As a visible presence, you’ll greet customers, support operations, and help prevent loss while remaining adaptable in a fast-paced retail setting. A valid SIA licence is desirable but not essential.

We're looking for confident, customer-focused individuals who can combine strong awareness with a warm and approachable attitude. You'll be a visible presence in store, helping customers feel supported while playing an important role in keeping the business safe and secure.

• At M&S, our customers don't wait. You'll operate in a fast-paced retail environment, staying alert, responsive and ready to step in when needed.
• Customer service is at the heart of the role. You'll create a welcoming store environment, greeting customers as they start shopping with us, while delivering professional support to both customers and colleagues.
• You'll help keep our stores safe and secure. From preventing loss and responding to incidents, to identifying risks and supporting safe ways of working, you'll play a key role in protecting the M&S environment.

Being digitally confident is essential. You'll use store technology, including mobile reporting systems and body-worn cameras, to support store operations and incident management.

• You'll stay calm under pressure. Whether responding to challenging situations or supporting emergency procedures, you'll always act professionally and confidently.
• Being a team player is crucial. You'll work closely with store colleagues to maintain high standards, support operations and create a positive environment for everyone.
• Flexibility is vital. Retail moves fast and every day is different. You'll adapt quickly to changing situations to support the store when needed.

All candidates must be able to provide a 5-year checkable work history within the UK.
