Job summary

The Economist Group is seeking a senior, hands-on security leader to helm its security engineering programme. You will set direction for security engineering, manage a team of security engineers and cyber analysts, and ensure complex security initiatives are delivered effectively across the organisation.

Qualifications

• Proven experience leading security engineering, platform engineering, cloud-security or application-security teams.
• Strong track record delivering complex security programmes across multiple teams and stakeholders.
• Experience shaping security strategy and translating it into a measurable roadmap.
• Solid knowledge of AWS security, cloud-native architecture and modern engineering practices.
• Experience with secure CI/CD practices (CircleCI or comparable).
• Knowledge of security scanning for applications, code, dependencies and infrastructure-as-code.
• Experience with vulnerability management, threat detection and security monitoring.

Responsibilities

• Lead people, partners and delivery, setting priorities and development opportunities.
• Own the security engineering roadmap aligned to risk appetite and strategy.
• Plan and deliver cross-functional security projects with agreed outcomes and budgets.
• Manage security technology and service providers with governance and value.
• Provide updates on delivery, risk and decisions to senior stakeholders.
• Shape the cyber-security strategy into an engineering plan.
• Define security architecture, standards and baselines across cloud, apps, endpoints, identity and data.
• Ensure security capabilities are scalable and cloud-first.
• Increase automation across security operations for faster response.
