Job summary

Our Future Health is seeking a Head of Security Engineering to lead a growing security engineering function in a London-based role. You will shape strategy, mentor engineers, and deliver scalable, cloud-native security solutions with an everything-as-code mindset.

This hands-on leadership role sits close to Directors and product teams, balancing strategic priorities with delivery, risk management, and continuous improvement across instruments, automation, and incident readiness.

Qualifications

• Experience leading and developing high‑performing security engineering teams.
• Proven hands‑on security engineering background with cloud security expertise.
• Expertise securing cloud‑native environments, ideally Azure.
• Experience building and operating security platforms and tooling.
• Excellent automation and engineering‑first mindset.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code and policy‑as‑code approaches.
• Knowledge of CI/CD, secure software development, and modern engineering practices.
• Understanding of IAM, cloud security, vulnerability management, and defensive controls.
• Ability to balance strategic leadership with technical delivery.
• Experience in Agile, product‑led environments; coaching and developing others.

Responsibilities

• Deputising for the Director of Information Security and helping shape security strategy.
• Lead, coach and develop the Security Engineering team.
• Manage team priorities, delivery, and day‑to‑day operations.
• Drive continuous improvement across processes, tooling, and documentation.
• Embed engineering best practices, including automation, CI/CD, and Infrastructure as Code.
• Champion an everything-as-code approach across security services.
• Remain hands‑on with security engineering, automation, and solution design.
• Oversee the reliability and effectiveness of core security technologies.
• Build integrations between security tools, platforms, and workflows.
• Expand automation and self‑service security capabilities.
• Partner with Security Operations, Product Security, Architecture, and Risk teams.
• Use threat intelligence, risk insights, and metrics to drive improvement.
• Define and track service performance metrics and KPIs.
• Advise on emerging technologies, security trends, and investment priorities.
• Maintain technical documentation and security platform standards.
• Support technology teams to adopt and integrate security services.
• Contribute to wider security initiatives, including ISO 27001 compliance.
