Job summary

The University of St Andrews invites applications for a Security and Response Officer to join the University Security and Response Team. You will help keep students, staff and visitors safe, monitor CCTV and respond to alarms across the Estate with 12-hour day and night shifts.

Training is provided during a probationary period, with mandatory Emergency First Aid and Higher Education Safety and Security courses.

Job description

The University of St Andrews iscurrently seeking an ambitious and dynamic individual for the position ofSecurity and Response Officer within the University Security and ResponseTeam. Reporting to a Security and Response Team Leader, you will be responsiblefor ensuring that the University is a safe and secure environment for thestudents and staff that live and work here, as well as for visitors.

Working across and beyond theUniversity Estate, duties will include ensuring that our buildings are secure,alarms and causes for concern are responded to appropriately, and thattechnology such as CCTV, incident recording system and digital radio / telephonysystem are utilised effectively.

Training will be provided duringdeployment, as part of a probationary period. Postholders will be required toundergo and pass training in an accredited Emergency First Aid course andHigher Education Safety and Security.

The post holder will be required to work as part of a teamproviding a 24/7, all year-round service working a 12-hour day shift / nightshift pattern. In addition to the basic salary, a Premium Hours Payment of anadditional 1/3rd time is paid for hours worked between 10 pm and 6 am wherethose hours are not subject to any other overtime rate. Thisequates to an approximate 11% uplift in salary which is reflected in theon-target earnings shown.Weekend and festiveperiod working is required.
