Bournemouth and Poole College is seeking a permanent, full-time security officer to join the Security & Premises Team on-site. The role centers on patrolling grounds and buildings, checking IDs to control access, responding to alarms, and monitoring CCTV with accurate incident logs.

The ideal candidate will hold a current SIA licence, have at least two years' security experience, and be willing to undergo an enhanced DBS check and right to work in the UK.

Responsabilités

• Deliver a security service to the college, staff and students.
• Patrol the perimeter and access routes, checking ID cards for authorised access.
• Respond to alarms and emergencies.
• Monitor CCTV in line with GDPR and college policy.
• Complete incident reports and daily logs accurately.
• Encourage good behaviour from students and defuse tense situations.
• Carry out routine patrols of grounds, car parks and buildings per schedule.
• Support the Security & Premises Team, such as room setups for events and exams.
• Maintain records under GDPR and college policy, ensuring confidentiality and audit readiness.
• Follow college policies including safeguarding, health and safety, and equality.

A permanent, full-time post in the security and premises team at Bournemouth and Poole College. Shifts attract an allowance, and the role includes calming students and defusing tense situations. A current SIA licence and two years' security experience are sought, along with an enhanced DBS check and right to work in the UK.

What the job involves

• Deliver a security service to the college, its staff and students in line with college policy
• Patrol the perimeter and access routes, checking ID cards to ensure authorised access only
• Respond to alarms and emergencies
• Monitor CCTV in line with GDPR and college policy
• Complete incident reports and daily logs accurately
• Encourage good behaviour from students and defuse potentially difficult situations
• Carry out routine patrols of grounds, car parks and buildings per the daily schedule
• Support the Security & Premises Team, such as room set-ups for events and exams
• Maintain records and systems under GDPR, the Data Protection Act and college policy, ensuring confidentiality, integrity and audit readiness
• Follow college policies, including safeguarding, health and safety, financial regulations and equality, and represent the college positively
• Undertake professional development and other duties as reasonably required

Checks & eligibility

Nice to have

• Current SIA licence
• Level 2 (or equivalent) English and maths
• Two or more years' security experience
• Conflict resolution skills and knowledge of health and safety, including manual handling
• Knowledge of CCTV and GDPR regulations
• Good communication, teamwork and ability to work independently
• Attention to detail in incident reports and logs, proactive, calm under pressure
• Basic computer skills; willingness to train as a nominated first aider
