Job summary

Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust is offering an 8‑month Healthcare Apprentice position within the Secure Care Division. The scheme combines direct patient care and observed learning while pursuing an Intermediate Apprenticeship in Health and Social Care Level 2 at Hugh Baird College.

Applicants will rotate through clinical and educational experiences, with eligibility requiring 3 years UK residency and visa conditions for government funding.

Qualifications

• Only male applicants aged 18+ are being considered for this role.
• No previous health and social care qualification required; candidates will undertake Level 2 Health and Social Care apprenticeship.
• 8‑month apprenticeship with placements across the Secure Care Division and attendance at Hugh Baird College weekly.

Responsibilities

• Carry out assigned duties including direct care and observation of service users under supervision.
• Participate in the ward shift system.
• Attend education sessions to support attainment of the Intermediate Apprenticeship Framework at level 2.
• Potential progression to a Band 3 Nursing Assistant post on completion.
• Work across multiple sites within the Secure Care Division (e.g., Ashworth Hospital, Rowan View, Rathbone Hospital, Hollins Park, Aspen Wood).
