Job summary

Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is offering Apprentice Healthcare Science Assistant roles, enabling you to gain a Level 2 Healthcare Science qualification while you work within an NHS environment.

Apprentices will be employed on an apprentice contract for a 16-month training period, with paid annual leave, mandatory training and NHS discounts. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and provide equal opportunities.

Qualifications

• GCSEs at A–E (9–3) including Maths/English or Functional Skills.
• Experience in health-orientated environment is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Undertake an initial structured departmental induction and follow a training programme.
• Provide assistance to a broad spectrum of service users and the multi-disciplinary team.
• Perform routine healthcare science activities under supervision.
• Handle sample reception, processing and archiving.
• Input patient demographics and test requests into the system.
• Maintain stock levels, cleaning, and waste disposal.
• Gain work-based learning within a healthcare environment.
• Work towards gaining a Level 2 qualification in Healthcare Science.
