Job description

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Section Engineer to join a major project within the Energy Transmission and Distribution sector based on the Scottish Borders. This role will focus on the delivery of a Battery Storage Park, a key piece of infrastructure supporting the UK's transition to sustainable energy.

The Role

As a Section Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing day-to-day site operations, ensuring works are delivered safely, on time, and to the highest quality standards. You'll liaise closely with the Site Manager, engineers, and subcontractors, while taking ownership of technical input and compliance across your section of works.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and manage site engineering activities within your allocated section.
• Ensure compliance with project specifications, drawings, and industry standards.
• Provide technical support and resolve site-based engineering challenges.
• Oversee quality assurance, inspections, and record keeping.
• Contribute to planning, progress reporting, and risk management.
• Maintain a strong commitment to health, safety, and environmental excellence.

About You

• Proven experience as a Section Engineer within the Energy / Power / Transmission & Distribution sector.
• Strong background working on major civils or infrastructure projects - ideally in renewable or power-related environments.
• SMSTS certification is essential.
• Excellent technical knowledge and the ability to lead site-based teams.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
