Job summary

Taylor Woodrow is seeking an experienced Section Engineer to join the Kiln Lane 400kV substation project in the UK. This site-based role focuses on delivering civil works, foundations, drainage and building structures, with close oversight of drawings, specifications and programme.

Reporting to the Senior Engineer, you will manage setting out, QA, ITPs, risk assessments and liaise with subcontractors and construction teams to ensure safety, quality and on-time delivery.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Section Engineer, Site Engineer or Senior Site Engineer on major civil engineering or infrastructure projects.
• Strong understanding of concrete foundations and drainage construction.
• Experience managing quality processes and Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs).
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
• Strong communication and coordination skills.
• Experience within energy, utilities, substations or major infra projects would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate the delivery of civil engineering works across assigned work sections.
• Take responsibility for site engineering control and quality assurance.
• Oversee construction of: AIS and GIS foundations; Reinforced concrete foundations; Drainage networks; GIS Hall construction; Associated superstructure works.
• Ensure works are delivered in accordance with drawings, specifications and programme requirements.
• Prepare and manage Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) and quality records.
• Produce and review method statements and risk assessments.
• Manage setting out activities and ensure accurate construction control.
• Coordinate subcontractors, site engineers and construction teams.
• Complete and maintain quality documentation, red-line drawings and as-built records.
• Work closely with project teams to identify and resolve engineering issues.
• Ensure compliance with all health, safety, environmental and quality requirements.
• Support the delivery team in achieving programme milestones and project objectives.
• Take responsibility for engineering control and coordination of works as construction progresses into the GIS Hall and associated building structures.

Project: New 400kV Electricity Substation Development

Taylor Woodrow is seeking an experienced Section Engineer to join a major infrastructure project involving the construction of a new 400kV electricity substation at Kiln Lane. This critical development will create a key connection point on Great Britain's electricity transmission network and play an important role in supporting the UK's future energy infrastructure.

This is a predominantly site-based role, focusing on the delivery of civil engineering works across the project, including major foundations, drainage systems and building structures.

The Role

Reporting to the Senior Engineer or Sub Agent, you will take responsibility for the safe and efficient delivery of sections of work, ensuring construction activities are carried out in accordance with design specifications, programme requirements and quality standards. You will have a strong presence on site, coordinating construction activities and managing engineering control throughout delivery.
