Job summary

Aldwych Consulting Ltd is seeking a Section Engineer to oversee engineering delivery on major civils packages in Bristol. You will manage setting out, QA documentation, and ITPs while guiding site engineers across rail possessions and highways interfaces.

Working with designers and subcontractors, you will resolve technical issues quickly, review temporary works, and maintain safety standards. A strong civils background and formal Civil Engineering qualifications are required.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Section Engineer or strong Site Engineer ready to step up.
• Background in rail, highways or heavy civils; soil nailing, piling, shotcrete or RC works is a strong advantage.
• PTS and CSCS essential.
• Good organisation; steady under pressure; confident in decision making.
• HNC/HND or degree in Civil Engineering.

Responsibilities

• Manage engineering delivery across multiple fronts, ensuring quality, safety and programme adherence.
• Lead site engineers and coordinate works across rail possessions, highways interfaces and specialist civils areas.
• Work with designers and subcontractors to resolve technical issues quickly.
• Review and approve temporary works and ensure compliance with TWC/TWS processes.
• Produce clear look-aheads, short-term plans and progress updates.
• Maintain strong safety standards and ensure all works meet PTS requirements where applicable.

Are you looking to get involved on a major infrastructure project in Bristol?

A leading civil engineering contractor is looking for a Section Engineer to support a mix of rail, highways and specialist civils works, including soil nailing, piling, shotcrete and reinforced concrete structures. This is a role for someone who's comfortable running the engineering on technically varied packages and wants to step into a position with real ownership.

The Role You'll manage the engineering delivery across multiple work fronts, ensuring quality, safety and programme are tightly controlled. The projects involve a blend of temporary works, access-constrained rail environments, geotechnical stabilisation, heavy civils and structural concrete.

Key responsibilities include:

• Managing setting out, QA, ITPs, as-built records and engineering controls.

• Leading site engineers and coordinating works across rail possessions, highways interfaces and specialist civils areas.

• Working closely with designers and subcontractors to resolve technical issues quickly.

• Supporting and reviewing temporary works, ensuring compliance with TWC/TWS processes.

• Producing clear look-aheads, short-term plans and progress updates.

• Maintaining strong safety standards and ensuring all works follow PTS requirements where applicable.

What You'll Need

• Experience as a Section Engineer or a strong Site Engineer ready to step up.

• Background in rail, highways or heavy civils; experience with soil nailing, piling, shotcrete or RC works is a strong advantage.

• PTS and CSCS essential.

• Good understanding of temporary works; ideal if you've worked closely with a TWC or held AP responsibilities.
