Job summary

Swindon Academy is seeking an ambitious education support assistant to work with the secondary phase alongside the class teacher. You will support learning in line with the national curriculum and contribute to small group interventions to raise attainment.

The role requires excellent communication, the ability to build relationships with students and adults, and strong IT skills. Prior experience with young people and a commitment to safeguarding are expected.

Qualifications

  • GCSE in English and Maths at Grade C or above.
  • Very good literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Some previous experience with young people is desirable.
  • Some understanding of how students learn or teaching experience is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the teacher with planned activities and adapt tasks to meet student needs.
  • Deliver small group interventions to raise attainment.
  • Provide differentiated support for individuals and groups.
  • Establish positive relationships with students and monitor progress.
  • Write reports and maintain records as required.
  • Support pupils with literacy and numeracy activities and behaviour expectations.
