Job summary

Milk Education is seeking a dedicated Secondary Teaching Assistant for a North Manchester secondary school. The role begins in September, supporting students across all subjects and helping create a positive learning environment.

You will work with teachers to deliver engaging lessons, support individuals and small groups, and promote confidence and independence. The position offers CPD through Milk Academy and ongoing consultant support.

Qualifications

• Experience working with young people in school, childcare, tutoring, coaching or similar setting (desirable).
• Passion for supporting learners’ development and progress.
• Positive, reliable and enthusiastic approach.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Proactive, flexible and eager to learn.
• Understanding of safeguarding responsibilities or willingness to undertake training.
• Qualification or degree is desirable but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Support teachers in delivering engaging lessons across all secondary subjects.
• Work with individual students and small groups to reinforce learning and progress.
• Encourage participation, confidence and independence in the classroom.
• Assist with preparation of learning resources and activities.
• Provide extra guidance to students who need it.
• Help promote positive behaviour in line with school policies.
• Build positive relationships with students, staff and parents/carers.
• Maintain safeguarding standards and support student wellbeing.
