Job summary

Milk Education is seeking a SEN Teaching Assistant for a September start in Wakefield to support primary pupils with additional needs. You will work 1:1 or in small groups to help with confidence, engagement and emotional regulation, under the guidance of teachers and the SENCo.

You will contribute to routines, behaviour support and social interaction, creating a safe, nurturing environment. A patient, empathetic approach and genuine passion for helping pupils with additional needs are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or young people in school, youth work, SEN, care, tutoring, or sports coaching.
• Patience, calmness and resilience.
• Genuine passion for supporting pupils with additional needs.
• Degree in Psychology, Education, or related field desirable; but no formal TA qualifications are required.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils with a range of additional needs (ASD, ADHD, SEMH, communication needs, learning delays).
• Work 1:1 or in small groups to build confidence, engagement, and emotional regulation.
• Help pupils manage routines, behaviour and social interaction.
• Deliver tailored support under the guidance of the class teacher and SENCo.
• Create a safe, consistent, and nurturing environment for pupils.
• Use strategies from psychology, education, or your own experience to aid learning and behaviour.
• Uphold safeguarding and behaviour policies at all times.
