Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment seeks a proactive Teaching Assistant for a secondary school in Ulverston, Cumbria. The role supports KS3/KS4 students, working closely with teachers and the SEN department to enable access to the curriculum and promote confidence across the academic year.

Responsibilities include 1:1 and small group support, lesson preparation assistance, and fostering an inclusive learning environment. DBS Update Service is preferred and full DBS checks are welcome.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or young adults in educational or youth settings.
• Patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach to learning.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting welfare of children.
• Willingness to apply for an enhanced DBS or have Update Service.

In this role, you will work closely with classroom teachers and the SEN department to support secondary students across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4. You will play a vital role in helping students access the curriculum, build confidence, and achieve their full academic and personal potential.

Key Responsibilities

• Providing 1:1 and small group support to students with varied learning needs.
• Assisting class teachers with lesson preparation and classroom management.

• Monitoring student progress and providing feedback to the SENCO and teachers.

What We Are Looking For

• Prior experience working with children or young adults (preferably in an educational or youth work setting).
• A patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach to learning.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
• An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one).
