Job summary

Remedy Education's client, a secondary SEN school in Newham (E16), is seeking a dedicated Secondary Teaching Assistant to support students with reading/writing and behavioural needs.

You'll work alongside teachers and other staff, help prepare activities, monitor safety, and assist with safeguarding, with DBS check provided if needed. Term-time only, with potential permanent opportunities and five days of work each week.

Qualifications

• A genuine desire to work with children with SEN.
• Caring, compassionate and resilient nature.
• DBS check required (support with this).
• Not barred from working with children.
• GCSE Maths and English at grades A-C (or equivalent).

Responsibilities

• Work alongside teachers, therapists and support staff.
• Ensure equipment and facilities are safe for children.
• Prepare activities and tidy up after sessions.
• Build understanding with each child to support learning.
• Report safeguarding concerns promptly and accurately.

As a Secondary Teaching Assistant, you'll be working with children who require additional support with reading/writing and breaking down tasks to make them more manageable as well as some pastoral and behavioural duties.

• You will have grades A -C in GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent)
