Job summary

Aspire People is recruiting for a Secondary Supply Teacher to work across Peterborough and the surrounding areas. Roles include daily supply, short-term cover and longer-term teaching positions across diverse subjects and year groups.

QTS, PGCE or equivalent is required with experience in secondary schools. You will teach across Key Stages 3-5 where appropriate and contribute to maintaining high standards of learning and safeguarding.

Qualifications

• QTS, PGCE or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification
• Experience teaching within a secondary school environment
• Strong subject knowledge in your specialist subject(s)
• The ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
• Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
• A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
• Excellent communication and organisational skills
• The flexibility to work across different schools and teaching environments

Responsibilities

• Delivering engaging and effective lessons in line with school schemes of work
• Teaching students across Key Stages 3 and 4, and Key Stage 5 where appropriate
• Managing classroom behaviour effectively and maintaining a positive learning environment
• Following lesson plans and adapting teaching where necessary
• Assessing and supporting students' learning and progress
• Providing appropriate challenge and support to meet different learning needs
• Maintaining high expectations of students' behaviour and achievement
• Working collaboratively with teaching staff and school leadership
• Following school policies and safeguarding procedures
• Providing feedback to the school where appropriate
• Ensuring the continuity of learning during staff absence
• For longer-term positions, you may also have responsibilities such as planning and marking, attending departmental meetings, contributing to schemes of work and taking part in parents' evenings where required.
