Job Description:

We are currently working with a lovely SEN Secondary School in Winchester. We are seeking a proactive and personable individual to support KS3 and KS4 classes catering to pupils with SEN needs. The school’s focus is on providing a nurturing environment that enables pupils to engage successfully in all aspects of learning.

Role of an SEN Teaching Assistant:

• Supporting the class Teacher (4-8 pupils per class)
• Assisting with outdoor day trips and activity days
• Embracing all aspects of the school’s visions and core values
• Working with pupils with ASC, complex needs, and challenging behaviours
• Full-time, 8:30am to 3:30pm
• Providing 1:1 and small group support to ensure pupils stay on track with the curriculum

The ideal candidate will:

• Have patience, be proactive and resilient—this role can be challenging but very rewarding!
• Experience working within a SEN school (not essential)
• Ability to develop strong relationships and rapport with pupils
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

To work with GSL Education as a Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant, you should:

• Have the right to work in the UK
• Possess an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last 2 years
• Have a DBS registered to the update service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education
