Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant Secondary

Our passion is education; we provide champion quality to our schools and are always improving.

We are currently working with a lovely SEN Secondary School in Cosham. We are looking for a pro-active and personable individual to support KS3 and KS4 classes who cater for pupils with SEN needs. The school’s focus is providing a nurturing environment that enables the pupils to engage successfully in all aspects of learning.

Role of an SEN Teaching Assistant:
  • Supporting the class Teacher (4-8 pupils per class)
  • Supporting with outdoor day trips and activity days
  • Embrace all aspects of the school’s visions and core values
  • Working with pupils with ASC, complex needs, and challenging behaviours
  • Full-time 8:30am to 3:30pm
  • 1:1 and small group work ensuring pupils stay on track with the curriculum
The ideal candidate will:
  • Have lots of patience, be proactive and resilient! - this role can be challenging, but it is very rewarding!
  • Experience working within a SEN school (not essential)
  • A strong ability to develop relationships and rapport with pupils
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
To work with GSL Education as a Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant, you should:
  • Have the right to work in the UK.
  • Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last 2 years.
  • Have a DBS registered to the update service or be happy to apply for one with GSL Education

Please be advised that this role requires strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection and that successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks including an enhanced DBS on the update service.
