Job summary

Hays Education in the Sheffield area is seeking reliable SEMH Teaching Assistants to support secondary students with SEMH needs and behavioural challenges across local schools and specialist settings. You will provide one-to-one or small-group support, assist with classroom routines and de-escalation strategies, and help pupils re-engage with learning.

Qualifications

• Experience working with secondary-aged students with SEMH needs or behavioural challenges.
• Background in care or support roles (social care, youth work, health and social care) is desirable.
• Calm, patient and resilient approach; strong teamwork and communication.

Responsibilities

• Support SEMH students to re-engage with learning.
• Work across Sheffield schools and specialist settings, including behaviour support and emotional regulation.
• Provide targeted one-to-one or small-group support tailored to individual needs.
• Assist with classroom routines and day-to-day learning activities.
