Job summary

Asp ire People is seeking an Occupational Therapist to support students in a South West London secondary school. You will assess functional, sensory and occupational needs and develop tailored therapy programmes to help students access learning and participate in school life.

You will work with pupils with SEND, advising staff and parents, monitoring progress and maintaining confidential records. The role starts ASAP and is offered on a full-time, long-term basis.

Qualifications

• Hold a recognised Occupational Therapy qualification and be registered with the relevant professional body.
• Experience working with children or young people, ideally within a school or educational setting.
• Strong understanding of SEND and barriers to learning.
• Able to collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, parents and professionals.

Responsibilities

• Assess students' functional, sensory, physical and occupational needs.
• Develop and implement individualised therapy programmes.
• Provide practical strategies to support access to learning and school participation.
• Work with pupils with SEND including autism, ADHD, sensory processing difficulties and physical/developmental needs.
• Advise teaching and support staff on interventions and reasonable adjustments.
• Monitor and evaluate progress and adapt programmes accordingly.
• Collaborate with SENCO, pastoral teams and multidisciplinary professionals.
• Provide advice and guidance to parents/carers where appropriate.
• Maintain accurate and confidential records and reports.
