Job summary

Aspire People Limited is recruiting an experienced Occupational Therapist to join a secondary school in South West London. You will work with pupils, teachers, SENCOs, pastoral staff and external professionals to support students with diverse needs and promote independence within an educational setting.

Responsibilities include developing therapy programmes, enabling access to learning, and providing practical strategies for participation in school life.

Qualifications

• Hold a recognised Occupational Therapy qualification and be registered with the relevant professional body.
• Experience working with children or young people, ideally within a school or educational setting.
• Strong understanding of SEND and barriers affecting learning and development.
• Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, parents and other professionals.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Be proactive, compassionate and able to build positive relationships with young people.
• Organised and able to manage a varied caseload effectively.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one through Aspire People.

Responsibilities

• Assessing students' functional, sensory, physical and occupational needs.
• Developing and implementing individualised therapy programmes.
• Providing practical strategies to support learning access and participation in school life.
• Working with pupils with SEND, including autism, ADHD, sensory processing difficulties and physical or developmental needs.
• Advising teaching and support staff on interventions and reasonable adjustments.
• Monitoring and evaluating students' progress and adapting programmes as required.
• Collaborating with the school SENCO, pastoral team and wider multidisciplinary professionals.
• Providing advice and guidance to parents/carers where appropriate.
• Maintaining accurate and confidential records and reports.
