Job summary

Academics is seeking a creative and dynamic Secondary Music Teacher to work across Ellesmere Port partner schools. The role covers daily, short-term and long-term supply placements with September start, offering a flexible teaching pathway.

You will deliver engaging Music lessons across KS3/KS4 (and KS5 where appropriate), inspire diverse musical interests, and support school ensembles or performances. DBS and QTS/ECT are required or in process, with strong classroom management essential.

Qualifications

• Degree in Music or related discipline and/or UK QTS/ECT.
• Experience as a Secondary Music Teacher teaching the UK Music curriculum.
• Strong instrumental or vocal ability; familiarity with music tech software.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
• Based in or able to commute to Ellesmere Port.

Responsibilities

Secondary Music Teacher – Ellesmere Port – September Start

Academics, a reputable education recruitment agency, is seeking a creative, inspiring, and dynamic Secondary Music Teacher for a variety of daily, short-term, and long-term supply placements at supportive secondary schools across the Ellesmere Port area.

Role Overview

• Deliver practical and theoretical Music lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (with potential KS5/A-Level opportunities).
• Inspire students of all abilities to engage with performance, composition, music technology, and a diverse range of musical genres.
• Seamlessly step into different music departments across Ellesmere Port to cover day-to-day, short-term absences, or planned long-term leaves.
• For longer-term placements, may support or lead school ensembles, choirs, or upcoming musical performances.

Requirements

• Degree in Music, Music Performance, or related creative discipline, and/or UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/ECT).
• Previous experience as a Secondary Music Teacher teaching the UK Music curriculum.
• Strong practical musicianship (instrumental or vocal), familiarity with music tech software (Sibelius, Logic, GarageBand), and excellent classroom management.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
• Based in or able to commute to schools throughout Ellesmere Port.
