Prospero Teaching is seeking a supportive Primary Learning and Numeracy Tutor to work with learners across Wigan, delivering tailored 1:1 maths tuition to strengthen foundational skills.

The role involves supporting number skills, arithmetic and reasoning, reinforcing core learning by age and ability, and planning interventions where gaps are identified. This is a part-time ongoing opportunity for a tutor who makes learning engaging.

Qualifications

Prospero Teaching is recruiting a supportive Primary Learning and Numeracy Tutor to work with learners across Wigan. The role involves providing tailored tuition to help primary-aged pupils strengthen their foundational Maths skills, improve their engagement and prepare for the next stage of their education.

The Role:

• Deliver engaging 1:1 tuition for primary-aged learners.
• Support the development of number skills, arithmetic and mathematical reasoning.
• Reinforce core learning in line with the pupils age and ability.
• Identify gaps in understanding and plan appropriate interventions.
• Use creative resources and practical activities to make learning accessible.
• Build positive relationships and encourage confidence and independence.

Experience, Training and Qualifications:

• QTS, PGCE or an equivalent relevant teaching qualification is desirable.
• Experience working with primary-aged pupils.
• Good knowledge of the primary Maths curriculum.
• Experience supporting pupils who need additional help with learning is advantageous.
• A creative, patient and adaptable approach.

To be eligible for this role, the tutor must:

• Hold the right to work in the UK.
• Hold an enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to obtain one.
• Provide two professional references, including child-related references.
