Job summary

Vision for Education is recruiting a Teaching Assistant to support a pupil with additional needs at a Blackburn secondary school from September 2026. This full-time, term-time role offers 1:1 support, a supportive SEND team and opportunities to develop teaching skills.

You will work closely with teachers, delivering support across KS3 and KS4, helping to promote engagement and progress in a safe, inclusive environment. An Enhanced DBS will be required or obtained.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children or young people with additional needs.
  • Calm, patient and compassionate approach.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to adapt learning to meet individual needs.
  • Genuine passion for supporting young people to succeed.
  • Experience in a secondary school is desirable but not essential.

Responsibilities

Pay: £90 - £110 per day (depending on experience and qualifications)

Are you a caring, patient and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding role where you can have a real impact on a young person's education?

Vision for Education is recruiting on behalf of a welcoming and supportive secondary school in Blackburn, seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a pupil with additional needs from September 2026.

This is a full-time, term-time position, offering the opportunity to build meaningful relationships and help a young person thrive both academically and socially within the classroom.

About the Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with one student, supporting their learning, emotional wellbeing and independence throughout the school day.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing dedicated 1:1 support for a pupil with additional educational needs.
  • Supporting learning across a range of Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 subjects.
  • Helping to implement strategies that encourage engagement, confidence and progress.
  • Working closely with teachers, the SEND department and external professionals to meet the student's individual needs.
  • Promoting positive behaviour and encouraging independence.
  • Creating a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment where the student can flourish.
