Job summary

Teaching Personnel in Blackley, Manchester is recruiting Higher Level Teaching Assistants (HLTAs) for the 2026/27 academic year within a specialist secondary and post-16 setting.

You will support learners with SEND across KS3, KS4 and Post-16, deliver planned activities, lead small groups, and contribute to individual learning plans alongside teachers and therapists. The role offers £100–£120 per day, access to SEND CPD, and potential pathways into longer-term positions.

Qualifications

Do you have the skills and experience to support learners with additional needs while taking a leading role in the classroom?

Teaching Personnel is currently recruiting for Higher Level Teaching Assistants (HLTAs) who would be interested in opportunities within a specialist secondary and post-16 setting in Blackley for the 2026/27 academic year.

This specialist provision supports pupils with a range of learning disabilities and additional needs, helping them to develop academically, socially, and emotionally in a structured and nurturing environment. The school caters for students across KS3, KS4 and Post-16, with all learners holding an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). Staff work collaboratively to ensure every student receives the tailored support they need to thrive and achieve their individual goals.

As an HLTA, you will play an important role in supporting teaching and learning across the school. Working closely with teachers, therapists, and support staff, you will help deliver engaging learning experiences while promoting independence, confidence, and positive outcomes for students.

Responsibilities may include:

The school would particularly value candidates who:

  • Hold a recognised HLTA qualification or have relevant experience in a similar position.
  • Have experience supporting children or young people with Special Educational Needs.
  • Are confident leading learning activities and managing groups of students.
  • Can build positive and trusting relationships with learners.
  • Remain calm, patient, and resilient when faced with challenging situations.
  • Are comfortable working collaboratively as part of a wider support team.
  • Hold Team Teach training or are willing to undertake additional training.
  • Are committed to helping students achieve greater independence and success.
